What is managed Keycloak, or Keycloak as a service?
Managed Keycloak means a provider runs Keycloak for you: the infrastructure, the database, high availability, upgrades, backups, monitoring and incident response. You keep using Keycloak itself, with its admin console, APIs and extensions, without operating the servers behind it. Some providers call it Keycloak hosting or Keycloak SaaS: the provider runs it, you use it.
How is it different from self-hosting Keycloak?
When you self-host, your team owns the cluster, the database, security patches, version upgrades and the on-call rota. With Cloud-IAM those are our job, under an uptime SLA, and your team spends its time on realms, clients and the features your users see.
Which clouds and regions can I deploy on?
Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud, Microsoft Azure, Scaleway and 3DS Outscale, in the region you choose. Pick the one closest to your users or the one your compliance rules require.
What uptime SLA do I get?
It depends on the plan: 99% on Starter, 99.9% on Essential, 99.95% on Premium and 99.98% on Max. The Freemium plan has no SLA. We measured 99.9834% uptime in 2025.
Can I migrate my existing Keycloak?
Yes. You import your realms, users, clients and configuration, and your applications keep using the same protocols. The migration guide covers each step, including upgrades from older Keycloak versions.
Do I keep the admin console, the APIs and custom extensions?
Yes. You get the native Keycloak admin console and the complete Keycloak REST API, as you would on-premise, and you can install your own extensions or ones from our catalog.
How much does managed Keycloak cost?
The Freemium plan is free for up to 100 users. Paid plans are priced by number of users and cloud provider, billed monthly or yearly, and the pricing page has a calculator for your exact setup.
